To waterproof or revitalise your rug we recommend Nikwax Rug Wash and Nikwax Rug Proof. The remarkable Nikwax treatments coat fabric and leather fibres with a network of elastic TX.10i water-repellent molecules. They bond to anything that is not water-repellent, and leave the spaces between the fibres open and breathable. Nikwax treatments can flex and move with fabric fibres, that is why Nikwax treatments can withstand several washings and remain waterproof whereas competitors products must be re-applied after each wash.

     If a breathable waterproof rug loses its water repellency, it will suffer a severe reduction in its ability to breathe. This will lead to a build up of condensation on the inside of the rug so the horse will become clammy, cold and uncomfortable.
